On Repeat No 07

Music.

A house is never quiet here. Ask me what's playing and I'll always have an answer.

An eclectic shuffle that respects no genre, and apologizes for none of it.

Fountains of Wayne bumping straight into Ice Cube, a deep bench of Nashville country for days out on the lake, and the blues saved for a campfire: the fire burning low, the stars doing the rest. Grunge still turned up loud in the garage, and dancing with Heather in the kitchen when dinner runs late. There's a soundtrack for nearly every room and every mood, and I'm forever cueing up the next one.

I'm not precious about genre: loud and honest beats clever and cold every time. What stays in rotation says a lot about how the week is going. Here's what's mostly on.

01
Indie, Rock & Whatever An eclectic shuffle with no respect for genre: Fountains of Wayne bumping straight into Ice Cube. If it's got a hook, it's in.
On Shuffle
02
Nashville Country Days on the lake with Kenny Chesney, a little Hardy when the volume's right, and Morgan Wallen for the long ride home.
Lake Days
03
The Blues Best around a campfire at night, the fire burning low and the stars doing the rest.
Under the Stars
04
Ninety-Three Grunge The Seattle records that hit me at the right age and never quite let go. Loud, and unbothered about it.
Turned Up
05
Kitchen Dancing With Heather, mid-dinner, no audience required. The only genre that matters is whatever's playing.
With Heather
06
The Long Drive Playlist Windows down, volume up, everyone half-singing the parts they don't quite know.
